LISBON, Portugal (AP) – Sporting Lisbon edged last-place Feirense 1-0 thanks to Diego Capel’s first-half spot kick, lifting the club into fourth place in the Portuguese league on Saturday.
The former Sevilla winger stroked home his penalty in the 15th minute after teammate Emiliano Insua was fouled in the area.
Sporting plays Ukrainian club Metalist next week in the quarterfinals of the Europa League after knocking out Manchester City.
League leader FC Porto visits Pacos de Ferreira on Sunday, while third-placed Braga plays Academica on Monday.
Second-placed Benfica drew 0-0 with Olhanense on Friday.
