PETALING JAYA: Frenz United Malaysia booked a place in the Under-15 Frenz International Cup semi-finals after fighting back to secure a 1-1 draw with the Malaysian Under-15 side in a Group A match at the MBPJ Stadium here last night.
Muhammad Amirul Ashraf capitalised on a defensive error to give the Malaysian Under-15 side, who had earlier qualified for the last four, the lead after only five minutes.
But Mohd Syafiq Helmi powered a shot home from outside the penalty box in the 21st minute to share the points. It was the first goal conceded by the Malaysian Under-15 side in three matches.
The Malaysian Under-15 topped the group with seven points while Frenz United Malaysia were second with four points.
In another Group A match, Slavia Praha of the Czech Republic earned their first win by beating South Korea’s Incheon Selection 3-1 at the Inspen Stadium in Bangi.
Daniel Krejdl scored a brace and David Novak contributed one in Slavia Praha’s win. Choo Min-yeol netted the consolation goal for Incheon Selection.
Two Group B matches will be played tonight with Persepolis of Iran taking on Frenz United Indonesia at the MBPJ Stadium while Chonburi FC of Thailand face the Slovakian Under-15 at the Inspen Stadium.
All four teams have three points with Persepolis leading the group on goal difference followed by the Slovakian Under-15 side, Chonburi FC and Frenz United Indonesia.
