JOHOR BARU: The Tunku Mahkota of Johor has told Kelantan Football Association (KAFA) president Tan Sri Annuar Musa to stop politicising the compensation issue of striker Norshahrul Idlan Talahaor “Mat Yo”.
Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, who is also the Johor Football Association (JFA) president, said the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) had only ordered the payment of RM250,000 for Norshahrul as compensation.
“The payment instructed by FAM was RM250,000 to KAFA, which will be made today,” he told a press conference here yesterday.
He said that national striker Norshahrul, the ‘Most Valuable Player’ of the Super League last season, had appointed a lawyer to handle the compensation issue.
He also said that Annuar needed to act more professionally in sports by not politicising or playing up the issue of Norshahrul’s transfer to Johor.
Annuar had, on Thursday, raised the issue of the payment for the transfer of Norshahrul from Kelantan to Johor Darul Takzim FC, saying KAFA had yet to receive compensation from the national player.
Apart from Norshahrul, the other national players who have joined Johor Darul Takzim FC this season include Harimau Malaya captain Safiq Rahim, Safee Sali, Azmi Muslim, Muslim Ahmad and the Abdul Razak twins of Zaquan Adha and Aidil Zafuan.
Johor have also signed up former Spain international Daniel Guiza and ex-Lazio player Simone Del Nero. — Bernama
