PETALING JAYA – By SHAMSHUL FITRI: PKNS FC’s hopes of fielding wonderkid Nazmi Faiz Mansor in their line-up for the Super League match against Felda United on Feb 16 have to be put on hold.

The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) yesterday told PKNS they can only register Nazmi when the second transfer window for the Malaysian League opens on April 8.

The 18-year-old Nazmi joined PKNS on Saturday after leaving Portuguese Premier League club Beira Mar.

He signed a three-year deal with Beira Mar but left after only six months.

PKNS manager Azmi Adnan said they were hoping for FAM to approve Nazmi’s registration as a Under-21 player before the transfer window re-opens.

“We were just hoping for a bit of luck but the rules say since he played for an international club, he has to wait until the window opens.

“We respect the rules and Nazmi will only be in our line-up after he gets his International Transfer Certificate (ITC),” said Azmi after meeting with FAM secretary general Datuk Azzudin Ahmad yesterday.

Azmi said Nazmi would still train with the PKNS team and play in the friendly matches ahead of the Super League match on Feb 16.

“The most important thing for us is that we get the player.

“On when we can field him, we have to go by the book.

“We might play him in a friendly against Johor FA this Friday to see how he can fit in the team,” said Azmi.
