By ERIC SAMUEL -  PETALING JAYA: Harimau Muda A midfielder Wan Zack Haikal Wan Nor is set for a two-year playing contract with J-League Division Three outfit FC Ryukyu.

The nippy flanker, who was named Best Young Player of the Super League last season, will ply his trade in Japan with another team-mate who will be named soon.

It is believed that the club are also keen on defensive midfielder Gary Steven Robbat and centreback Mohd Fadhli Shas.

National Under-23 coach Ong Kim Swee said the club officials are in Kuala Lumpur to seal the deal.

“It is most likely they are keen on Wan Zack after his trials in June last year.

“The other player they are looking for is a defender,” said Kim Swee after announ-cing Harimau Muda’s playing tour of Slovakia.

Apart from the Slovakia stint, the boys will also play in the World University Games in Kazan, Russia and the Mer- deka Tournament both to be held in September.

The boys were spotted by FC Ryukyu officials during the Asian final round qualifying tournament for the 2012 London Olympics. Then, Malaysia lost 2-0 in Fukuoka and 4-0 in Kuala Lumpur.

Kim Swee said the delay in confirming the two players was to include an additional clause into the players’ contracts that they would return to Harimau Muda if they cut short their contracts.

“We’ll make sure the deal is right as we do not want a repeat of the Nazmi (Faiz Mansor) fiasco. We don’t want to be left in the dark,” he said.

Wan Zack said he is ready to accept the challenge.

“This is a golden opportunity and I will give it my best shot,” said Wan Zack.
