PETALING JAYA: New signing Dimitri Petratos scored a brace for Kelantan’s first win in the AFC Cup competition when they defeated Myanmar’s Ayeyawady United FC in a Group G match played at the Youth Training Centre in Yangon yesterday.

The Australian striker netted in the 54th and 81st minutes after skipper Mohd Badhri Radzi put the Red Warriors ahead in the fourth minute. The home team scored through Dominik Bersnjak in the 79th minute. Kelantan are in second in the standings with four points after they drew their opening match against Maldivian side Maziya Sports and Recreation 1-1 at the Sultan Mohd IV Stadium in Kota Baru last week.

Vietnam’s SHB Da Nang top Group G with six points after two straight wins. They defeated Ayeyawady United 2-1 in their opening match and yesterday edged Maziya 3-2.

In Shah Alam, M-League Golden Boot winner Francis Doe from Liberia scored a brace in Selangor’s 3-3 draw with S-League champions Tampines Rovers in a Group H match.

Doe was on target in the eighth and 53rd minutes (penalty) while Mohd Amri Yahyah scored the other goal in the 47th minute. The vistors scored through Aleksander Duric in the 20th minute, Mohd Imran Sahib (49th) and Kunihiro Yamashita in the 73rd minutes.

Doe opened accounts when he rounded Tampines Rovers goalkeeper Sasa Dreven after latching onto a through pass in the eighth minute. But the visitors drew level through their veteran striker Duric 12 minutes later.

Amri put the Red Giants in front again when he curled in a shot from outside the box but Tampines again drew level two minutes later through Mohd Imran from a goalmouth melee.

Doe scored his second of the night when he converted the spot kick after Amri was brought down in the box.

The visitors had the last say when Yamashita fired in a ferocious header from a corner kick in the 73rd minute.

Selangor lost their opening game to India’s East Bengal FC 1-0 last month.
