PETALING JAYA: Perak will be hoping for a change of fortunes in their ailing M-League campaign following Brazilian forward Paulo Rangel’s inclusion when the transfer window opens next month.
Coach Mohd Azraai Khor Abdullah said the Brazilian comes with strong credentials after having featured for Thai League champions Muangthong United.
“There is no doubt Rangel is a top striker and strong in the air. We have seen him in action and will be playing a couple more friendlies to get him familiarised with the team,” said Azraai.
Rangel’s arrival will be a boost for Perak’s strike force as they look to solve their goal scoring woes. The forwards, led by former Golden Boot winner Abdul Hadi Yahaya and French striker Karim Rouani, have managed only six goals. After nine matches, Perak are struggling in 10th spot with 11 points from three wins, two draws and four defeats.
Azraai said they will replace the ineffective Karim and hope Rangel will strike a winning combination upfront.
“We are unable to pair Abdul Hadi and Rangel together yet. Abdul Hadi is with the national team but I am convinced we will be able to improve our forward department,” said Azraai.
